Whilst in The House of Commons, a female MP once said to Winston Churchill, 'Sir. You are drunk!' He replied, 'And you madam are ugly, but I will be sober in the morning!'

PS Glad to see the new record is coming out on vinyl! Tis the only way to fly...

One of our favorite spots is Tintagel, on the Atlantic coast of northern Cornwall. It is associated with the King Arthur legends. The village itself is ridiculous and you can skip that entirely. But the ruins are gorgeous and haunting, hugging the treacherous rocky cliffs. We were there on a dark, stormy day with nobody else around, and in fact the caretakers asked us to leave eventually because it was too dangerous hiking around with the high wind. Another great spot in that general area is Stonehenge, which is of course also jammed with tourists. Damn tourists anyway! Which I of course have been many times, but I'm one of the nice respectful ones :-) Anyway, you hear about how overrated Stonehenge is, but don't believe it. I will always remember driving across the rolling plains of Salisbury and suddenly there is this massive stone circle in the middle of nowhere. I mean, its fucking Stonehenge.

Hey Courtney, you in England in all this glorious sunshine we are having right now. You have been to England enough times now to know you are very lucky to experience such nice weather here...it's rare.
Anyway, looking at the comment from Samantha-Jane, I agree...If you get chance try Corfe Castle. Unlike Warwick it's in total ruin. Blown up and amazing that it still stands but it looks sooooo authentic..but then it is. and yes, the village is lovely and there is a fantastic restored steam railway that runs passed the castle, if you like that sort of thing. All in all,a very magical place. I know all this because Corfe is only 30 minutes down the Road from me. Are you planning on playing any acoustic songs while over here, I ask in a very cheeky way ???

If you're in Warwickshire, you should hit Kenilworth Castle- all the history, sans wax figures and Disney-esque vibe. Plus it's in the town I live in....lovely area warwicks anyhow.

You have certainly picked a time when our weather here is good for 'doing' castles.
There are so many brilliant days out - I enjoy the ruins also - especially ones that are not too commercial. Bishops Waltham Palace built in I think 1135 and then in 1644 after the English Civil war. There is no shops there just ruins and tranquility.
Another good one - although slightly touristy is Corfe Castle in Corfe Dorset....The villiage is nice there too!
