Yep, watched that part of the movie and it totally disturbed the hell out of me. I have a 2 year old and when I see stuff like that in movies or stuff that happens in the news to kids really pisses me off.
The movie fucking sucked. Sorry about the potty mouth but I hated it too. I agree with Courtney, sick bastards need a checkup from the neck-up….
Court’s review is dead-on. Hated this movie and told everyone I know how awful it was. The decision to endlessly show the dead children wasn’t made in a vacuum. Dozens of people were involved and no one stood up and said “Hey Marty, this is a bad idea.” What’s wrong with people?
Get over yourselves!! It’s a fucking movie that was based on a novel if you would’ve payed attention. And if you want to bury your head in the sand and pretend that shit like that doesn’t happen you’re living in a fantasy. They just found the bodies of 8 kids in a french village of 700 who were murdered by their mother. Anyway, I rather liked the movie:)

@Tanner. Would you stand in line and pay 12 bucks to look at those poor kids who were murdered by their mother in the French village? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Of course bad things happen in the world but we’re not talking about the world. We’re talking about entertainment. Shutter Island was supposed to be entertaining, a mystery, a suspenseful story, noir, a piece of art which explored mental illness, but it devolved into useless, unartistic pornography when it unnecesarily dwelled on the dead childrens bodies. Scorsese should have learned a lesson from the 1931 version of Frankenstein. That director successfully generated tension, fear, drama and grief when the monster drowned the young girl, and the director did it without focusing on the drowned girl’s body. But you are not alone. After leaving the theater I told all my friends not to see Shutter Island. I didn’t care whether I spoiled the movie or not because I thought most people would not tolerate such scenes. I thought that parents, in particular, would find the movie deplorable. Alas, I was surprised to meet a few people who disagreed with me and enjoyed the movie. I consume movies on a weekly basis. I love them. But I can’t comprehend how or why anyone could find enjoyment in Shutter Island.
