It would be interesting to know how many DW fans are also Firefly/Serentity/Joss Whedon fans! Seems like Fringe, Big Bang Theory, Dr. Who, Torchwood and Dandy’s people are of the same cloth!
I totally loved Serenity, Never got to see Firefly… although recently aquired the boxset but haven’t opened it yet. Thought Firefly was sort of Joss Weadons Buffy kicks ass in space sort of thing…but still, all about the characters and great with it. Fringe OK but a tad dissapointing..same old each week. Heroes and Lost still quite big here in the UK. Do you get Dr Who and Torchwood in the USA ?? Personally great shows that I like a lot, particularly Torchwood. and if you want cheese and the lowest ever budget show, how about UK show Blakes 7
On Netflix instant streaming, we have all the new Dr. Who’s and Torchwoods- which is the shizzle- for less than 3 quid a month (English conversion $ may be off). As far as Firefly is concerned- we saw Serentity before Firefly too. You get so much more of what is happening during the movie when you see the series. Yeah, there is some “fromage” factor, however- like Buffy and Angel, (and to a certain factor Fringe, who is written by Whedons brother) its about extended families, staying to together through difficult odds. Loved Blake 7 in the day too- seems there is this whole universe of quirky media (the Tick, Harry Dresden Files) that you kinda fall in love with, cause it’s not so mass produced and shoved down your throat marketingwise…like the Dandy’s music…right?
Both Serenity and Firefly are the Ultimate Soup
i read you and it is very interesting although i haven’t seen it .. so .. Love CTT and The Dandys… keep writing, expect a movie or serie i can comment properly…
nice to read Mike and Billy also, merci !
Fan
I love Firefly, and Torchwood and Blake’s Seven… oh dear.
I won’t even mention Doctor Who.
It’s a pity Firefly died a premature death. Serenity wasn’t that bad was it?
I haven’t come across ‘Fringe’.

Fringe is kinda like X files, yet instead of always doubting that there is weird stuff going on- there IS weird stuff going on- all the time. Its by the same guy who produced Lost- and has some of the same elements, yet not as confusing!
What’s not to love about Iron Giant? I watch it every week with my five-year-old. Harry Connick Jr is a scene stealer even though he doesn’t even appear in the flick. Love love love Iron Giant.
It’s a shame Firefly got cancelled. But at least this way it’ll always be cool. Unlike Millennium and such that had one series too many and became diluted and boring. Better to burn out than fade away and all that.
You know I totally agree- Firefly was this nice big cheesy appetizer of goofy fun. If it had gone like a lot of the Whedon shows, it would have gotten darker and sadder and not as much of a good ride…sad there is not more, but it worked out to be just about perfect
