First Post Of Twenty-Ten
January 4th, 2010Oh, my old, old friend, my twenty-ten, pull me to your cold cheek again.
I think the big whoop-ti-do over in North Portland on New Years with Brainer and the Upsidedowns and the Sixers was a big success. I didn’t go, I only attend white-tie masquerades now. But my Facebook is flooded with pics of the party, like this one I just stole form Upsidedown Jsun.

Courtney Taylor-Taylor, the leader of this outfit, has a couple of new movie reviews on his page, Pork Chop Hill and Arsenic and Old Lace.
I only saw one movie in theaters over the break, Broken Embraces, and it was great. I now have a free ticket, because the Regal Club Card has to pay off sometime, and I was going to use it to see, Nine, but I guess everyone says it’s terrible, so now I don’t know what to see. (Not Avatar.) Someone let me know if that Clooney flick with the girl from Rocket Science is any good.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you are in Portland this Thursday night, don’t go to some movie show, check out Logan Lynn at Doug Fir. He’s the coolest.
Later, twenty-tenners.

Up in the Air is pretty good, not the happiest feel goodest movie I have ever seen- however you like the characters and enjoy the time spent with em- if you have ever traveled a lot, you dig the vibe- which is pretty spot on. I
I saw Mr. Fox and Sherlock Holmes too- both are rentals.
Happy New Year Dear Gothman , wish all your dreams come true and keep on please writing with your brilliant so personal style for our pleasure..oh damned my computer from Portland has no punctuation …
You don,t feel for Avatar but in 3d it s something so i would say Sherlock Holmes although i ve seen only the trailer

Flying love and bisous from your here in Vincennes on the carpet lol sitting loving fan God bless You
In The Loop?
No, Mr Fox was awesome. I’ll save Sherlock Holmes for DVD, since I don’t really care. I guess A Single Man or Up In The Air. Why is FOX TOWER running two screens of some Queen Victoria made-for-tv biopic. Snoooze.
It’s snowing here (England) Shame, just missed out on a white Christmas. Do you get snow in Portland for Christmas ? I gave Sherlock Holmes a miss as I didn’t fancy it but my friends have since told me it is very good
bonsoir SillyBilly; it;s snowing in Paris too.i haven.t seen the snow in Portland but lights all over the houses glittering outside …
yeah viva Sherlock ..out in Paris only in february
Don’t get me wrong- I LIKED Mr Fox (much more than the Mrs), however i don’t think seeing on the big screen was essential, thus the rental status (in my opinion). Plus you have extras (hopefully) and can be watching over again.
Some pretty sceneage in UIA- more emotional impact too- Better in theaters-
Just watched Ponyo on DVD and it reminded me of the master Miyazake. I’m sure you’ve probably seen them, but if not check out all the films from Studio Ghibli – My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Nausicaa, Howl’s Moving Castle…. and many others – all fantastic and no need to leave your home. Well, except to hire or buy them. and formal attire optional.
Enjoy!
Seen em all, with the exception of Ponyo- sounds like something I need to add to my Nflx queue…:)
ponyo’s great, Mike, check it out!
