Kansas City
September 3rd, 2009The band is in Kansas City tonight to play at the Beaumont Club, but arrived on Wednesday to check things out. Both Zia and Court sent home pics so I thought I would combine them into one post. You know the deal.

COURT: Lots of famous old photos on these greasy walls. The Robert Johnson look-a-like behind the register yells “YOUNG MAN” at everyone. Even Zia. He proably did at Jimmy Carter, too.

ZIA: Best BBQ in Kansas City I’m told. Honestly I preferred the stuff Poopy got us in Arkansas better…..

ZIA: In case anyone wants to know what our meal looked like.
One last one from Courtney:

COURT: K.

The band, touring with BTW labelmates Spindrift, will be appearing tonight at K.C.’s Beaumont Club, and will be in St. Louis on Friday and Oklahoma City on Saturday.

I looove the photo with Brent and the “burger” car, thats awesome ! i’ve never see such a thing before ! And now we know what the dandys are eating, they’re not aliens but humans ! ahah i’m joking (and not funny). That look quite tasty !
thank you for making us travelling with you with all those pictures.
love and have a nice time tonight !
Yeah, Bryant’s is good barbecue, but Oklahoma Joe’s is better. 47th & Mission Road, not far from the Beaumont. Totally looking forward to tonight’s show. Last year’s in Lawrence rocked!
Arthur Bryant’s is definitely not the best BBQ in KC. Maybe #5 at best. Whoever told you that is whack.
That car must be the Kansas City equivalent of the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile.
If its all about the food, then I’d be happy to make a few suggestions for Labor Day in
Houston! Looking forward to see you in H-town
Kansas City has much better BBQ to offer you next time. I’ve lived in KC for entirely too long and Arthur Bryants isn’t even on my top 10 of BBQ. It has history and that’s about it as far as I’m concerned.
[...] Before launching into “You Love Me,” Taylor thanked everyone in the audience for coming, and McCabe shouted that KC was the best stop on the tour yet. Taylor went on to say he and the band enjoyed some Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ the day before the show. Before the Warhols arrived in KC, they asked people “what’s so great about KC BBQ” on their Twitter page. The band also chronicled their trip to KC on their blog. [...]
