Quarrelsome Prostitutes
January 27th, 2010I found the text here not quite shocking but definitely surprising. This was taken a couple years after WWII in Marseilles.
CAPTION: ”IN A PADDY WAGON quarrelsome prostitutes loudly protest against being bundled off to jail. Legal prostitution was abolished in France last year, thus creating an additional enforcement problem for the Marseilles police.”

OK Ive read that caption 5 times and Im feeling dumber by the second. If legal prostitution was abolished, then how does that create an “additional enforcement problem”? What the fuck am I missing?
Nevermind I just got it. The fact that they have to enforce it is the problem, right? Wonder if anyone back then envisioned the day when prostituting yourself to the right famous person could actually make you set for life and a “celebrity” yourself.
Well, there was Zelda Fitzgerald.
Legalise prostitution and get over it, but don’t forget to pay on the way out. Anyway, how about blind boxing at the next Olympics, or do you think it’d be a bit hit and miss ?
Marthe Richard , the abolition of prostitution, it was in 1946, right ?
In fact now Marseille is a very lively city with the sun and the mediterranée sea, And we are a lot who found in love with your music when you open for David Bowie, so we invite you to come back, and play again, and we will take you for a Marseillan trip!!!!
