“We Drink To Scott”

This band is not four members. This band is the four of us plus the people who have put up with us, made us look good and sound good over the years, and the first person who became part of that family was Scott Simons.

We met Scott on the Love and Rockets tour, our first national tour in 1996, and we took him and we kept him. The only time he couldn’t work with us was if it was one of the Love and Rockets/Bauhaus/Peter Murphy camp.

Scott has lived with us, given speeches at our weddings, and made us laugh over the stupidest shit – every time when things are good, they’re fun, and when they’re bad, they’re funny. And Scott is one of the first people that made sure it was funny.

He is the best lighting guy we’ve ever known. And he’s one of our people. We’ve never lost a Dandy. We’ve never lost a Dandy, and this is the first time we’ve had to say goodbye to one of our close, close inner circle family. And we are all beside our side ourselves. No one could ever replace him, and yet we have to go on a tour without him. He’s the funniest, most talented person and the good thing is this: he ate all the burritos, and the steaks, and the fucking escargot and the margaritas and the beers and the Bordeaux. He saw all the sunsets in the exotic places, and all the clubs, and all the fans, and the best lights. That man packed 100 years of life into his 62 years.

The only grief to be had is for the people who are gonna miss him because he deserves to move to the other side. There’s nothing wrong with Scott leaving except that we will miss him.

The Dandy Warhols Live IN Australia and New Zealand

Tour Added: Australia + New Zealand Nov/Dec 2026

This November and December your favorite band (that’s us, right?) is back down under with another Massive Concussion of Rock™ spanning thirty-two years from the west coast of Australia to the east coast of New Zealand.

The tour kicks off with a special event in Hobart, TAS as we bring our symphony set to the Odeon accompanied by the @tasmaniansymphonyorchestra. This is the first time we take the symphonic experience out of Portland to faraway shores, so we’re pretty excited to see your faces when this hits you in the face.

Then off to New Zealand for rock shows in Auckland and Wellington, then back to Australia as we snake around the continent: Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle, Melbourne, and ending at the Meredith Music Festival in Victoria.

Help Scott Simons

For those of you who have seen us over the years, you’ve seen the work of our lighting director, Scott Simons—even if you didn’t know his name.

We met Scott in the late ‘90s on one of our first national tours with Love and Rockets, and he’s been with us ever since. Over the decades, he has become far more than our lighting guy. He’s family. He’s been our roommate, stood beside us through life’s biggest moments, even gave a speech at one of our weddings. We know his brother, his dad (Coach Simons) has been to countless shows, and we’ve been lucky to call this hilarious, talented human our friend for a very long time.

Recently, Scott was hit with multiple serious health issues at once. After undergoing treatment for heart problems, including stents, he’s now facing an even bigger fight: a rare form of cancer.

While Scott focuses on getting well, he can’t work. We’d love to help make sure he doesn’t have to worry about paying for the basics like housing, food, and medical expenses while he fights this battle.

If you’ve ever been moved by the lights at a Dandy Warhols show, laughed with Scott backstage, or simply want to help a genuinely wonderful person through an incredibly difficult time, please consider donating. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.

Thank you for helping take care of one of our own.
