Dandys Pedalpalooza Bike Ride
June 16th, 2009I heard from Sarah’s friend Jo Ryan that there was a Dandy Warhols bike ride as one of the events for “Pedalpalooza“. It was listed in the paper saying it was going to a tour of the important locations in the history of the band around the city of Portland. Zia and I went and there was a great turn out and we cruised around in a giant mob blasting the Dandys on a boom box that was attached to the tour guides bicycle. We went to the WTTMH studio, to Slabtown, the Rock Dorm, the Oddy, a bar called “Plan B” to watch some Dandy videos, (including ‘Plan A‘ – get it?) to the X-ray Cafe, and some locations around town where some of the Dandy music videos were shot. We finished up at pretty much my favorite bar in town, the Red Fox on Albina for beers. Zia and I tried out a ‘tall’ bike. Pretty scary ! An absolutely perfect night.

Oh my gosh…Brent, so nice of you to post. We hardly ever hear directly from you ! Thank you so much for sharing pics and info with us. Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. Please continue to keep us posted on all the happenings.
Man that was a blast!
I hope they do it again next year.
Trying out the double tall bike was such a thrill that I’m gonna build one of my own.
Brent, you can borrow it. : )
Zia… I was trying to behave myself by posting no more than 3 comments per page ( not too long and not in a row) lol. But I have to comment on how cool I think it is that you’ve been interacting with your fans a lot lately. I think it’s awesome and you’re so nice to make time for us. I know you’ve all been very busy lately and I just wanted to say thank you for doing so. I don’t use the forum, ( been in it a couple of times, mostly to browse ), so this is literally the only place that I leave messages for you guys. ( I hope that’s okay ?) It’s great to hear from you and Brent. Thanks guys.
I had a lot of fun with you guys! thanks so much for having showed to us your studio and let us parked our bikes inside… I have an unforgettable picture of my bike in your office ! I have also a few pictures of both of you on Corey’s tall bike…I’ll email you them tonight… and I keep in mind the song about les poissons… See you ! Carole
Hey, Zia, Brent, Sarah, Jill and everybody, just wanted to say that it was blast meeting everybody and that Des, Tamara and I all had a great time. Keep in touch!
Well darn I wish I’d known about this ride. I would have joined you. We live in a great city for biking.
Was this ride organised with you guys involved or did you just turn up as surprise guests? Sounds like fun.
I went to a music festival near Canberra earlier this year and these people called Rat Patrol took these awesome bikes they’d made. Some had big wheels at the back with tiny ones at the front, one was kinda like a go-cart with crazy controls and some were bikes welded on top of other bikes so the rider was way up in the air. They were scary-looking and i’m sure took some practise, but great fun.
thats awesome ! i wanna do this ride too ! you must been having fun !
thank you Brent for having posting this, thats so nice. you guys share so many things with us. You must one of the only bands to do this. Its great to have some news of your music but its great to have news about what you’ve done, what you discover, what you like … and i think we won’t ever thank you enough for that !
i watch again and again these photos and imagine you Zia and Brent biking along the Seine, in St Germain des Prés, on Ile de la Cité, near Notre Dame …and a song in my ears “I love you” the most amazing love song ever heard , and the voice of Courtney !!! oh ! je m’égare, i’m loosing my way !
I did once a guided biking tour around Paris with a crazy deutch guide ..it was both fun and very instructive too…You couldn’t do the same people would stop you for autographs or bisous !i’m amazed in Portland you are so free no fans stoping you on your way !.so cool for you..Pedalpalooza sounds like euphoria !! plenty of love from me to you !
So these two cats Jill and Jeff organized this and we just showed up for the ride. I even learned a couple trivia bits about my band which was funny.
