The Dandy Warhols: Barely Legal

On this date in 1994, The Dandy Warhols (Courtney Taylor, Peter Holmstrom, Eric Hedford, and someone else) played their first ever show at the world famous X-Ray Cafe in downtown Portland. Whoever that someone else was fired from the band not too long after, and Zia McCabe was recruited to take her place. Four years later, founding member Eric Hedford left the band and was replaced by Courtney’s cousin, Brent DeBoer. This is the entire personnel history of The Dandy Warhols. Questions?

Happy New Year! It should be a great one. A new album, big tours, and The Dandy Warhols turn eighteen. That’s right, finally legal.

Box Bless Us, Everyone

Well ho ho ho. Just a note to let those of you with dollars and pounds and euro to throw our way that while our web store will be open during the holidays, items ordered afterrrrrr…NOW will not ship until first week of January ’12.  Here, just draw up what you’re giving and hand that over to your loved one. George Lucas sold an empty box, and we kids LOVED it.  Ohh, deep in the malaise were we in the dark days of the late 1970s that even an empty box would satisfy, for just one minute, our budding consumerist pangs. And we’ve been buying empty boxes ever since.  Merry Christmas!

Limited Edition Holiday Sweater Shirt

We needed a new shirt to sell at our annual holiday shows and I had not seen anyone do up one of those holiday sweaters on a t-shirt before, so I thought it would be a funny thing for the Dandys to do, and it really just snowballed from there. We have a limited amount left over, so have at ’em.

Go to xmas.dandywarhols.com for the details on how to download this very special digital single.

What’s New With Our Friends

Our old friends The Wolfmen (Marco Pirroni and Chris Constantinou) have a fantastic single coming out December 5th on Cadiz Music. It’s called “Jackie, Is It My Birthday” and it features Sinéad O’Connor on vocals. (PS: I love this song, Sinéad’s voice gives me the shivers.) This song was mixed by our Courtney Taylor-Taylor and Jacob Portrait, in case you were waffling on picking it up.

Our young friends 1776 have their album out now on Beat The World. You can download that from iTunes HERE. I saw some copies of the CD laying around the office, so I’m sure that you’ll also be able to buy that version soon.

Courtney & Fathead Contribute Track to Nirvana Tribute

Hey old-timers. In celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the release of the very popular Nervermind by a band called Nirvana, Reimagine Music and producer Jim Sampas have put together a tribute featuring covers of all the tunes that made up said classic album. And this cover-album bursts into the public conciousness Tuesday, October 25th. Why, that just might be tomorrow!

Say, how does this news specifically relate to our The Dandy Warhols? Courtney Taylor-Taylor and Brent Deboer, under their Dutch Masters umbrella, were kind enough to contribute a cover of the popular parking-lot staple “Smells Like Teen Spirit” to this collection. That’s how you know it’s good!

More/better information about this release can be digested from this blog article HERE.

Good luck!

Dates Added: December 9, 10, 11 – Portland

Can you believe that it’s October 11th and and we haven’t even talked about CHRISTMAS yet? What a sorry state of affairs. This empire is in shambles! I was in the stadium Fred Meyer the other day and they had all jack o’lanterns and witch wigs – not at all Christmassy! HERETICS!

Anyway, with the first irreverent paragraph completed, it’s time to announce the annual Dandy Warhols Christmas shows set to take place this year over three nights in early December. On Friday, December 9th and Saturday, December 10th, The Dandy Warhols will play the new Star Theater in NW Portland. These two shows are 21 and over. On Sunday, December 11, The Dandy Warhols will play an all-ages matinee at Doug Fir on East Burnside in Portland. Joy to the freakin’ world.

Tickets for STAR THEATER (21+) go on sale to the general public Friday, October 14th at 10am HERE.

Tickets for DOUG FIR (AA) go on sale to the general public Friday, October 14th at 10am HERE.
