What did The Dandy Warhols sound like before they became world-famous practitioners of neo-psychedelia and synthpop? What did they sound like during their eighth concert ever? Now we know. Comfortable shifting between shoegaze and garage rock, confident in their stage banter and poised for world domination! Live at the X-Ray Cafe is the third release in Voodoo’s “Tales from the Grease Trap” archival series. The recording, from July 8, 1994, was originally captured at Portland’s legendary all-ages venue the X-Ray Cafe. New York engineer Don Fury transferred the untouched multichannel analog cassette into his console, mixed it then mastered it along with input from Courtney Taylor-Taylor.
This recording is only available on 12-inch extended play vinyl from Voodoo. For heaven sake, bring home a dozen!
The Dandy Warhols have been added to the Dine Alone Records SXSW Showcase Wednesday, March 16th at Bungalow in Austin, TX. For information on how to attend, please see the Dine Alone event page on Facebook.
The world is full of corporate billionaire scumbags who pollute the Earth, kill wildlife, cause cancer, secretly running nations into the ground, and the moronic masses who just agree with their mindless slogans and will never fight the good fight to help to stop them until finally the last blistered blind three armed mutant dregs of humanity eat each other’s putrid flesh in mankind’s final nauseating death throes…
The Dandy Warhols‘ new album is named Distortland and will be released worldwide Friday, April 8th, 2016 on compact disc, 180g Long Playing Maxigroove polyvinyl phonograph record, digital, and cassette from the good rockers at Dine Alone Records.

This is a pic of where it starts. I got myself a Pro-Tools rig for my laptop almost exactly three years ago and began recording in earnest. I have a photo of a huge gin martini from that day as I ended up super fucked up at a 60’s strip mall’s bar in the burbs. Happened to be where Guitar Center may yet live. I had some dude in a band I met drive me home in my old Cadillac and crash in the spare room.
For three years that’s about how regimented my life has been making this thing. We get a lot of werk done at our studio but mostly oops, party. Pete’s basement is where real discipline happens. I finish a lot of lyrics there as it is very monastic.
I guess that’s it. We chip away for an epoch then somehow realize it’s done. -ctt.
