Hey, here is the pre-sale dealie for the Italian Christmas shows in Seattle and Portland. Lee wanted me to tell you that those who buy pre-sale tickets will get five bucks ($5) off in our merch store. Well that’s good news!
Oh. The login is ‘thedandywarhols‘ and the password is ‘aresound‘.
As Dandy Warhols, we like to take a different approach to Christmas: a little more Old World and a lot more jaunty. Take Italy. Their holiday season is comparable in length to the common American holiday season, but with its baked eel and lumps of coal and mash-ups with what we think of as Halloween traditions – La Befana the Epiphany witch, children in costumes going from door to door for treats – it seems a hell of a lot more festive than a fat man whipping flying deer to bring you an iPhone, doesn’t it? We are on a mission to convince Christendom that Italy does it best. But these things take time; Rome wasn’t bilked in a day. Easing into the task we commence this year with our annual Christmas shows with the introduction of a sliver of sunny Italy to the Northwest’s dreary environs. Just a taste, a Fellini twist on the usual Dandys holiday performance, with shows on December 11th at Nuemos in Seattle and December 12th and 13th at Portland’s Wonder Ballroom. Ticket link on Wednesday.
The Dandys will be playing a the new L.A. 101 music event on November 3rd with Silversun Pickups and Matt & Kim. Because of the nature of this special event, the Dandys cannot offer advance tickets to our fans. In fact, tickets are on sale now and are going fast, so please get yours as soon as possible.
Oh hey. A reminder that we will be on tour next in the good ol’ USA starting next week. In case you forgot or have put off buying tickets because you were broke or just came out of a coma and this is the first you are hearing of it, here are the dates again along with links to buy tickets.
Hey, it looks like we are going to be headlining at the Clean Air Clear Stars Festival on Saturday, September 19th in Pioneertown, CA. If you can make it out there, the price is nice — it’s free. Yeah! Also on the bill for that day, our label mates Spindrift, The Upsidedown, and 1776. Beat the World is taking over this place.
We thought it would be fun to tour with our friends and label mates Spindrift, so we came up with this, what we are calling “THE BACKBONE OF AMERICA TOUR”. (See if you can figure out why.) All shows are all ages, so you can throw that fake I.D. in the trash. (No one believes it anyway.)
Tickets are already on sale (or, on “pre-sale”) if you’re a Dandys subscriber. OH!! Tickets for the rest of youse go on sale at noon tomorrow (June 24th). That’s probably noon our time (pacific), not yours. Check back here then for a special pre-sale widget. (Tickets for the Monolith Festival, September 13 at Red Rocks are already on sale, no waiting or widgets.)
Zia’s radio show A to Zia this week features the theme “T for Travel” . Tune in today, and every Wednesday, at 1pm Pacific on the W + K Radio site, on your own media player, or below in the embedded thingy.
At the show in Pomona on Friday, make sure you stop by and see our friends at OxFam America. They will have a table at our gig, distributing information on how you can help with such pressing world issues as climate change, workers and minority rights, trade and others. If you’re at the gig, stop by their table. If you’re not going to be there, please stop by oxfamamerica.org to see what you can do to help.
Just a reminder that these shows in Southern California are less than a week away, and tickets, though still available, are dwindling. If you wish to guarantee your place, these tickets should be purchased post-haste.
