“Dreamt Of Yes” Video Is Trippy

Well, here we go.  Take a look at the awesome new video for “And Then I Dreamt of Yes”, directed by Mark Helfrich.

Zia:  We as a band have a soft spot for old, vintagy, trippy stuff so Mark getting inspiration from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari fit perfectly with our aesthetic. We had no problem coming up with our individual ‘looks’ for this video and filming with water pouring over us and having our eyes closed through entire shots was an interesting challenge. Mark and his crew did a fantastic job and any input we had during the final editing was minimal. I’m so glad such a beautiful piece of film was made for my favorite song on the album.

A big thank you to IFC for hosting the video.

Blackbird

Hey.  Since the tragic news of Mr. Jackson’s passing yesterday, we here at The Odditorium have been besieged with requests of the status of  The Dandys’ cover of The Beatles’ “Blackbird”, as foretold, and some would say, fore-promised (that’s probably not a word), in the title track of our 2003 album Welcome To The Monkey House.  Please note that this was not an anticipated event and we had no cover of “Blackbird” all rearin’ to go.  I mean, how could we?  With both Courtney and Fathead currently out of town we cannot say when we will be able to get to this cover of “Blackbird”, but we will, as soon as we are all together and able, since we have come to find that it means so much to a lot of you.

We thank you for your continued love and patience. Much love back, on behalf of The Dandy Warhols and all of us here at the Odditorium in Portland.

Dandys Pedalpalooza Bike Ride

I heard from Sarah’s friend Jo Ryan that there was a Dandy Warhols bike ride as one of the events for “Pedalpalooza“. It was listed in the paper saying it was going to a tour of the important locations in the history of the band around the city of Portland.  Zia and I went and there was a great turn out and we cruised around in a giant mob blasting the Dandys on a boom box that was attached to the tour guides bicycle. We went to the WTTMH studio, to Slabtown, the Rock Dorm, the Oddy, a bar called “Plan B” to watch some Dandy videos, (including ‘Plan A‘ – get it?) to the X-ray Cafe, and some locations around town where some of the Dandy music videos were shot. We finished up at pretty much my favorite bar in town, the Red Fox on Albina for beers. Zia and I tried out a ‘tall’ bike. Pretty scary ! An absolutely perfect night.

Now, I don’t normally (ever) go on the road with the band, but one thing I can tell you about The Dandy Warhols from me knowing them for 200 years is that I’m pretty sure — and mind you, I’m not there to witness what is actually transpiring — but I’m pretty sure that they are having the best time ever this weekend in L.A.  Hopefully, when everyone’s hair is dry, we can get a full-ish report when they get home on Monday.
