Courtney’s Books: The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Moshin Hamid
Had a book club in the wine bar for their meeting (works perfectly for that) and this is what they were reading.
I’m 45 pages in and it is a seriously great read.
The title makes believe I’m gonna really not like where it’s going but I’ll letcha know one way or the other.

📚 Courtney’s Books: Thunderbird by Jack McDevitt
This book is awesome. What if we found an ancient interspacial teleporting building. Well, it would ruin the cars, planes and travel industry and cause total global economic collapse if we figured out how it werked.
That and a shitton of other subtelties about other lifeforms and the nature of science in general.
I can feel my mind expanding as I’m reading.
Incredible.
UPDATE 11/6: What a concept. This guy is good. I wish i was still reading it. But for my final flight home being delayed four times it lasted me almost the entire Australian trip.
Amazing writer. Get it now.

The Dandy Warhols will play SNOWVANA this Friday, October 21st at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum. Here is a thing copy-pasted from the festival’s page:
Snowvana is different. It’s a true kickoff to the ski and snowboard season. It’s an entertainment festival with everything a snowsports enthusiast loves – ski and snowboard films, live music, the latest gear, and a brew fest. Unlike a ski swap or scattered ski film premiers, Snowvana is a single event, where the entire community of northwest skiers and riders can unite and truly celebrate the impending winter.
Attendees can also purchase or pick up their season pass from all of the Mt. Hood resorts as well as Mt. Bachelor. After all, you don’t want to be waiting in line to pick up your pass when your buddies are ripping fresh pow on opening day.
We’ll also be giving away 1,000+ lift tickets and five Snowvana Season Passes, the only season pass that gets you access to all three Mt. Hood resorts plus Mt Bachelor. These are the only five Snowvana season passes in existence. You can’t buy them… you can only get them at Snowvana.
ADMISSION: Suggested donation of $5 gets you a One-Day Pass which includes entry into the Friday Night Music Concert or the Saturday Film Fest, the Brew Fest and Exhibits. Kids 12 and under free.
